Freshmen and Sophomores — are you interested in attending college tuition-free at North Central Michigan College or Alpena Community College as a fifth-year student? If you begin planning now, you could earn an associate degree by the end of that fifth year.
If you have questions or would like to learn more, there will be an Early Middle College Informational Parent Meeting on Monday, March 9, specifically for 9th and 10th-grade parents. The meeting will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. in the High School Auditorium, with representatives from Alpena Community College helping to lead the discussion.

Shout out to our incredible Director of Transportation and Building & Grounds, Steve Fleming, as he competes in the Polar Roll. This race consists of 158 miles of fat tire biking in the snow then snowshoeing 101 miles. The race begins in Marquette and ends in Ishpeming. Our Chiefs Nation cheers you on from the warmth of our desks. Best of luck!

New bills signed by Gov. Whitmer requires school districts to create rules banning phones during class time
"We know that when students put their phones down, their grades go up. These bills will help keep kids focused in the classroom and break their growing dependency on screens and social media," Whitmer said.

Five of the Studio Art students got the opportunity to go to “Northern Shores Conference Art Day“ in Kalkaska this year and students had the opportunity to visit 4 of the 9 stations to create little art projects. Learning new skills and art mediums.

It is with deep sadness that we share with our students, staff, and community that Chuck Atkins passed away today. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Chuck’s family, friends, and all who knew and cared about him during this incredibly difficult time.
Chuck was a valued and influential member of our staff who made a lasting impact on our school community. He built meaningful and lasting relationships with students both in the classroom and on the athletic field. His dedication, kindness, and commitment to students will not be forgotten.
Today is a very difficult day for Chief Nation. We encourage everyone to keep Chuck’s family and loved ones in their thoughts as we mourn this loss together.

Due to continued dropping temperatures and dangerously cold wind chills expected this evening and into Friday morning, CAS will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 30. The wind chills are expected to be well below zero, exceeding -20 degrees. These conditions can create safety risks for students and staff during transportation and outdoor exposure, especially during pickup times. Please stay warm tomorrow and limit time outdoors tomorrow, if at all possible.
CIS ski club is canceled for tomorrow due to extremely cold temperatures.
