Thank you, Dr. Caposey!

I would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Caposey for delivering an insightful keynote speech during our half-day professional development session this past Wednesday at the Opera House. The feedback we’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive. Looking ahead, we hope to continue offering similar enriching experiences, and we’re considering bringing in another keynote speaker for next spring’s session.

Additionally, I want to express our gratitude to Owen Goslin for generously allowing us to use the Opera House for this event. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a beautiful community space, and Owen’s hospitality made the experience even more memorable. It was a pleasure partnering with him, and we look forward to future collaborations. Thank you all for your participation, and I hope you found the session as valuable as I did.

End of the 3rd Marking Period is March 21st

A quick reminder: we are just two weeks away from the end of the third marking period. For high school students, it’s crucial to ensure that all missing assignments, makeup tests, and homework are completed and caught up before the end of the marking period. Once the third quarter ends, there will be no opportunity to improve your grade for this term, which will significantly impact your final grade for the school year.

Additionally, please note that March 21st marks the end of the third marking period and the beginning of Spring Break. Spring Break will run from March 24th through March 28th, the entire week. I hope you are able to take this time to get away or, at the very least, rest and recharge. It is essential to refresh during this break so that you can return motivated and prepared for the final stretch toward the end of the school year.

As Ralph Waldo Emerson wisely said, “Nothing can bring you peace but yourself.” Take time for yourself, and return ready for the final nine weeks!

East Design Team Meeting #5 on Monday:

On Monday, we will hold our fifth Design Team meeting with our architects. As we approach the final stages of design, we will soon be seeking final approval from the school board. Once approved, our goal is to move forward with bidding this spring and begin construction this summer. The East ELE renovation project is expected to take approximately one and a half to two years from start to finish.

For those of you who have been closely following the process, it has been a long journey. It all started last October 2023, when we completed the extensive Facilities Assessment. By the winter of 2023-2024, it became clear that significant work was needed across the district. In the spring, summer, and fall of 2024, we asked the community to consider a tax extension to fund the necessary renovation work. We were thrilled when the community voted in favor of the tax extension in November. Though the vote was close, the bond passed, and the tax extension generated over $22 million specifically for facility renovations across the district, with more than $10 million allocated to East ELE.

The project will be completed in multiple phases, with a priority placed on improving air quality and HVAC systems. We are committed to minimizing any disruption to instructional activities throughout the process. While the two-year timeline may seem lengthy, we are confident that the end result will be well worth the wait. Bekki Jossart, our Architectural Project Manager, will present the latest design for East Elementary to the school board later this month.

Quote for the Week: "Everybody is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, but if your name’s Eisenhower, you’ve got to wear something green to show it." – Dwight D. Eisenhower

Dwight D. Eisenhower is best known for his leadership as the 34th President of the United States (1953–1961) and for his distinguished service as a five-star general during World War II. As president, he oversaw the creation of the Interstate Highway System, played a pivotal role in the Cold War, and was instrumental in efforts to contain the spread of communism.
