Happy New Year!  What’s in store for you in 2025?

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to another week off from school as we usher in the New Year on January 1st. This time of year, is an excellent opportunity to reflect on the past and consider the lessons we can carry into 2025.

As you contemplate the year ahead, I encourage you to think about the following:

  • What accomplishments from last year would you like to continue in 2025?

  • What mistakes have you learned from, and how can you apply those lessons to avoid repeating them? Remember, our failures often provide more valuable insights than our successes.

  • What new challenges are you eager to pursue, even if they seem daunting? Embrace the opportunity to push your limits.

I also recommend writing down your improvement goals; I believe that tangible goals have more impact when they are documented. Additionally, sharing these goals with someone you trust can be beneficial. A mentor or coach can provide valuable support and check in on your progress.

Perseverance is crucial; do not be discouraged if you do not achieve your goals on the first attempt—true defeat occurs only when one gives up completely. As long as you continue to try and learn from your experiences, your chances of success will improve over time. Remember, everyone deserves a second chance.

I firmly believe that we are either growing or declining, as remaining stagnant is not an option. I often conclude my communications with the phrase "Stay Green and Growing," which symbolizes our need for nurturing, just like plants require water and sunlight to thrive.

Lastly, if you seek inspirational reading material, I recommend "Growth Mindset" by Carol Dweck. One of her quotes I enjoy the most is, “Most experts and great leaders agree that leaders are made, not born, and that they are made through their own drive for learning and self-improvement.”

Wishing you a reflective and purposeful start to the New Year.
