Sunday Soup

Good Sunday Evening,

Welcome to May!

I can’t believe it is already May and the end of school is quickly approaching.  I want to encourage everyone to finish strong.  I know winter has been long and we are quickly moving into spring and through the 4th quarter.  I know our HS students and teachers are starting to think about finals which are right around the corner as well.  I would encourage all students at all levels to get their makeup work in now, sooner than later, so when the end of the school year arrives, you are not scrambling to get your late work in. You will have enough distractions at the end of the school year, make-up work and tests should not be one of them.  Many times, late work can make the difference between a positive grade, or two…

Thank you to Teachers and Staff!

I was really impressed with our half-day PD afternoon this past Wednesday.  In a very short period of time, one afternoon, we offered a plethora of opportunities for different folks to have a variety of learning experiences.  Everyone was very engaged and present.  We had:

  • District News/Building Improvement Brainstorming for 24-25

  • District Math Curriculum Work

  • CTE Training

  • LRE Aide Training

  • CPR Training for New Teachers

  • “Rooms” Training through Apptegy

  • Informational Session with Sitelogic

This was our last PD afternoon for the 23-24 school year.  We will be planning for the 24-25 PD days soon.  If you have some suggestions or items you think is important for our staff to learn or know about, please contact your BP or supervisor and they will share it at our next Cabinet or BP meeting.

Book Study – “Drive” by Daniel H. Pink:

Chapter 6 Discussion Questions will be sent out this week.  Hopefully, you were able to read Chapter 5 last week and complete Chapter 5 Questions too.  Don’t forget to make a post in our Chat Room and also make a comment on someone else’s post for each chapter.  We have almost completed our study and our last and final face-to-face meeting will be scheduled soon, mid-May.

Bootcamp/Healthy Lifestyle Update:

I have to be honest, last week was not a great week for me.  I missed a couple of my workouts and was feeling a little under the weather at the end of the week.  Today, Sunday, I am feeling much better and I am motivated to get back on the right track this week.  As you know, a healthy mind starts with a healthy body and as I mentioned last week, a few small adjustments/changes can have an accumulatively positive impact on your state of being and level of self-confidence.  Remember, “Do a little more today than you did yesterday”, Spencer S. Byrd.

Town Hall Meeting

It appears the proposed date of Wednesday, May 15th, in the HS auditorium @ 6pm will work for our Town Hall meeting.  So, if you are interested in learning more about the bond referendum that will be on the ballot in August, please plan to come to our Town Hall meeting.  The information that you gather will help and assist you in making a fact-based decision in August.  As you know, the school district will be asking the community to consider a neutral or “no increase” tax extension to replenish the last bond fund that was passed in 2015.  These funds will help the district continue to fix, repair, renovate ALL of our facilities in the future.  Please plan to visit with us so that your voice can be heard.
