I am incredibly excited to begin another school year with the students, staff, and families of the Cheboygan Area School System, proudly serving as your High School Principal.

With over two decades of experience in education, my goal is to build on our past accomplishments and continue shaping Cheboygan High School into one of the premier educational institutions in Northern Michigan. We remain committed to providing a strong academic environment and offering meaningful opportunities that prepare students for college, careers, and life beyond high school.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working in many different areas of education—including Title programs, the elementary and high school levels, athletics as the Athletic Director, and coaching nearly 100 varsity seasons. These experiences have been invaluable, and I’m eager to continue growing alongside this incredible community.

My background also includes partnerships with DHHS, family support services, and other local organizations that work to ensure all students have access to the resources they need to succeed. We will continue to weave these connections into student activities and support systems, helping students thrive both in and out of the classroom.

I am a proud graduate of Alpena Community College and Grand Valley State University, where I earned my degrees in education. I look forward to collaborating with our dedicated staff to implement effective strategies and celebrate the many great things happening here at Cheboygan High School.

On a personal note, I’m a proud father of three amazing sons—Jager, Jadin, and Jerzi. Jager has entered his post-college career, Jadin is beginning his sophomore year at ACC in the Electrical Studies program while also playing basketball, and Jerzi is heading into his junior year at CHS. We’re excited to see all that this year holds for him and for the entire Cheboygan community.

Let’s make it a great year!

Yours in Education,
Marty Mix
