Motivational Thought for the Week: Discipline Creates Freedom
Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge, the first person to run a marathon in under two hours, reminds us that discipline is what carries us forward when motivation fades. As Kipchoge puts it, “Only the disciplined ones in life are free.”
We all have days when we feel motivated and days when we don't. The difference is often our willingness to stay committed to the goals we've set, even when the work is difficult. Discipline means building good habits, following through on our commitments, and doing what needs to be done regardless of how we feel in the moment.
As educators, this applies to our classrooms, our leadership, and the relationships we build with students and colleagues. Consistent effort, small daily improvements, and a commitment to doing our best can make a lasting difference.
Progress doesn't happen all at once; it happens through the choices we make every day.
