I would like to thank everyone who helped and was part of our Interim Principal interview committee. We wrapped up the interview process last night, and I am pleased to introduce Dr. Dave Botbyl as our new CIS Interim Principal. Please note that Dr. Botbyl’s last name is pronounced “Bot-Bill.”

Dr. Botbyl brings a wealth of educational leadership experience to CAS. He most recently served as an Interim K-12 Principal at Leland Public School. During that time, he led the day-to-day operations and worked closely with staff, students, and families. He also supported special education services, reinforced student behavior and wellness systems, and worked to build strong relationships throughout the school community.

Dr. Botbyl holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Wilkes University, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University.

In addition to his administrative experience, Dr. Botbyl brings a strong background in curriculum, school improvement, student support, and building positive school cultures. I believe his experience, perspective, and leadership will also be a great addition to our district team.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Botbyl to Cheboygan Area Schools. I know he is looking forward to meeting our staff, students, and families and becoming part of the CAS community.
