East Elementary Renovation Update

The East Elementary renovation project continues to make strong progress as we move closer to the start of the school year. The new roof installation and classroom LVT flooring are both 100% complete, and all teachers’ furniture has been returned to classrooms. New classroom cabinets have also been installed, and cleaning crews have begun working in the cafeteria, kitchen, and classrooms.

Several important inspections and systems milestones were also completed this week. The plumbing final inspection passed on August 21, the boiler room startup is complete, and staff training on the new boilers and VUVs has been completed. Electricians continue testing and commissioning the new fire alarm system with Johnson Controls, while mechanical ductwork is approximately 85% complete. Metal panel installation has also begun on the south end of the building.

Over the next week, crews will continue completing mechanical and electrical work, classroom and hallway painting, carpet and corridor LVT installation, and final cleaning. Work will also continue on the vestibule, parking lot concrete removal, and metal panel installation. The building inspector and Fire Marshal are scheduled for final inspections on August 26, with the electrical final scheduled for August 28 and the mechanical final scheduled for August 31. Steel erection for the next phase of the project is expected to begin the week of August 31.

Overall, the project continues to move forward, and we are pleased with the progress being made as we work toward completing the remaining work and preparing East Elementary for our students and staff. Go Chiefs!
